Wittman Marine Surveying and Consulting
Wittman Marine Surveying works closely with Insurers, Shops, and individual Boat Owners. Our job is to
accurately determine the cause of loss and scope of damages for any claim. A report of our findings is then generated.
As a Marine Surveyor we DO NOT adjust any loss. Our ethics dictate we act as a disinterested third party, to fairly
report in an unbiased manner the facts of the claim.

If you are an adjuster who has a claim beyond your level of expertise, or a boat owner that feels you are not receiving
fair treatment, give Wittman Marine Surveying a call.   513 - 267-0114
Marine Insurance claims are complicated in nature. The Marine
Surveyor's task is to determine the facts of the incident, and
prepare an independent unbiased report of findings.  To the left,
an examination of an intentionally set fire aboard a vessel is
performed by Joe Wittman and others at an Arson and Fire
investigation Seminar. Over ten vessels were burned or blown up
to provide "real world" experience to investigators.
Dial indicators should be used to determine if shafts have
been deflected beyond factory tolerances. These tolerances
are measured in thousandths of inches. What is wrong with
the measurement being taken to the right?
(The dial indicator is
incorrectly located, the shaft is on a vice)
Should anyone pay  $478.55
for a part that is not damaged?
Is this damage on the right the result of striking a
submerged object? Sure looks that way....but why aren't the
parts at the bottom of the lake? Rust on the internal
components indicate water in the unit. The angle the unit is
broken indicates freeze damage while the unit was stored in
the up position.  The lack of impact damage to the skeg,
propeller, shafts, and gears supports a finding of freeze
damage, not impact . It also explains why the components
were not at the bottom of a lake.
